Reptiles Emergencies:

  • Bleeding
    Control bleeding, transport immediately
  • Evisceration
    Protect organs, transport immediately
  • Prolapse
    Protect prolapse, transport immediately
  • Broken Bones
    Stabilize fracture, cover open wounds, transport ASAP
  • Broken Back
    Keep immobile, transport immediately
  • Eye Injuries
    Protect globe, transport immediately
  • Twitching, Seizures and Convulsions
    Keep quiet, transport immediately. If poison is suspected bring the item in question (e.g. insecticide bottle, plant, etc.)
  • Egg Binding
    If associated with hypocalcenic tetany, otherwise
  • Burns
    Depends on severity of burn
  • Vomiting
    If poisoning is suspected, Otherwise, and transport ASAP. If cause is known
  • Diarrhea
    Bring sample of feces in sealed bag
  • Lumps/Bumps
    Have pet examined ASAP, unless associated with trauma
  • Mites/Ticks
    Both parasites are associated with anemia and other diseases
  • Respiratory Disease
    Needs veterinary attention ASAP. If patient is having problems breathing
  • NSHP
    Chronic problem; needs veterinary car ASAP. Unless acute secondary effects seen
