Newborn puppies receive
disease-fighting antibodies from their mother’s milk as they nurse, but
these antibodies only last a few weeks. Therefore, small doses of
modified disease causing agents are introduced into the body through
vaccinations. Vaccines are given at 8weeks, 11weeks, 14 weeks, and 16
weeks. This stimulates the body to produce its own antibodies. In
addition to vaccinations, puppies must be tested for intestinal
parasites such as roundworms. Intestinal parasites can cause vomiting
and diarrhea, and they are zoonotic diseases and may be passed from
animal to humans. A microscopic fecal analysis and deworming regimen
will allow us to identify and treat your puppy appropriately.
